AFP mounts on OS X

Documentation

  • man mount
  • man mount_afp

Commands

AFP shares can be mounted either via Finder (Connect-to-Server) or via the command line.
The Finder is simpler but also less flexible.

Use Finder's Connect-to-Server dialogue or from the command line:
mount -t afp afp://username:password@hostname/backup /Volumes/backup

Omitting the ":password" is more secure, mount should prompt for the password.

Note: The remote mountpoint string is slightly different to the SMB version. This one is prepended with "afp:"
